Sonney’s BBQ Shack Bar & Grill
Sonney’s BBQ Shack Bar & Grill is a sports bar and grill located in the heart of South Lake Tahoe, California. As a food reviewer in Restaurant World, I had the pleasure of dining at this establishment and experiencing their delicious offerings firsthand. From their mouthwatering Nakid' Jalapeño Poppers to their savory Sonney's Big Boy Burger, each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor.
- Their appetizers, such as the Deep Fried Mac-N-Cheese and Southern Fried Pickles, were a delightful start to the meal.
- Their BBQ platters, featuring Juicy Baby Back Ribs and Smoked BBQ Half Chicken, showcased the restaurant's expertise in all things barbeque.
- For dessert, I indulged in the Hot Bread Pudding and Key Lime Pie, both of which left me craving more.
What sets Sonney’s BBQ Shack Bar & Grill apart is not only their delectable food but also their commitment to providing a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, offers many vegetarian options, and even accepts cryptocurrency as a form of payment. Their dedication to sustainability is evident through their use of plastic-free packaging and reusable tableware.
Overall, my experience at Sonney’s BBQ Shack Bar & Grill was nothing short of exceptional. The combination of delicious food, welcoming environment, and dedication to sustainability make this establishment a must-visit for any food enthusiast in the South Lake Tahoe area.

It's my second time eating at Sonney's BBQ. The first time was in .Our highlights were the Lamb burger, the pulled pork sandwich, and the beef brisket sandwich. I must say the beef brisket sandwich was very good Disappointment: My year old ordered the / rack of Baby Back Ribs. Well, I ended up giving her half of my beef brisket sandwich because the Ribs were a bit tough and may have been undercooked. I even used the steak knife to cut some pieces off the Ribs, but it was a bit rough. The waiter serving us was not too communicative. He was also working the bar and was chatting with other customers. I didn't bring up the Ribs because of this.We are invited by friends to go here again tonight, but we won't be stopping by here tonight or in the future.I do recommend trying Sonney's at least once and judge for yourself. The Jalepeno cornbread was good.

A great place for BBQ, food was great. We had the beef ribs, St. Louis ribs, brisket, BBQ beans, coleslaw, mac-n-cheese, and potato salad. I highly recommend the ribs, mac-n-cheese, beans, and coleslaw. The outdoor sitting is a must with good music and plenty of tables. Jamie, our server provided us with a great and friendly service. I highly recommend it when in the area.

The food looked good but it was anything but good. The service was great, all the people were really nice and all. The food was just terrible, we won't ever go back. We are a family of and we ordered a number of things off the menu. We got BBQ baby back ribs which we thought would be the best item on the menu but it wasn't, It seemed like it was just cooked enough not to be raw and it turned out to be a real challenge to chew the meat off the bone. We Also ordered a half BBQ chicken which was so awful dry every bite I took and had to drink to wash it down. The pulled pork sandwich was the last adult entree we ordered and it was flavorless. For sides we got fries, BBQ beans, coleslaw, and Mac and cheese ($ upcharge for the Mac). All these sides we ended up not fully eating, we all took a little taste and decided against eating them. The beans were cold and seemed to be not cooked enough, the fries were mushy, the Mac was cold and the cheese on it was hardening up. The entrees came with cornbread which was ok, the kids didn't like it because there was jalapenos in it and some Cajun spices. The coleslaw was just ok, very plain. Their BBQ sauce bottle they have at the table has a bit of a kick to it so the kids didn't like it. We got one kids entree which was a grilled cheese, it came out a little on the burnt side but that is how our daughter likes it and she enjoyed her grilled cheese. It was a struggle to eat about half the food mainly because we were starving, and the other reason was we were spending quite a bit and didn't want it to go to waste. Our total bill came out to $.The place seems to be busy but I have a feeling it's because of the "Bar" and not the food.Parking: Very tight one way parking lot which makes parking a full size truck difficult.

Food was good, service mediocre. The 'world famous' pig wings did not disappoint! While they aren't smoked, they were nice and tender and had a unique cripsy exterior, and the asian inspired sauce was tasty. The slaw they sat on top of was good also, although I think it was improved from the flavor of the meat sauce and might not have been as good alone. The beef ribs had good quality beef flavor, but didn't fall apart from the bone like they should from a good smoking. Collard greens were very good, some of the best I've tasted. Beans were so-so and not the greatest. Everything was overly salty - I appreciate some to enhance flavor, but it can be overwhelming when used in excess. Our waitress was visibily distracted when taking the order (although she did get everything correct) and no one checked back after delivering the food to see if we needed anything else like napkins or drink refills.
